Welcome Back!

Dear Parents and Guardians:

As the principal of Carpentersville Middle School, and on behalf of the faculty and staff, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your family to CMS.   Whether you are new to CMS or a returning family, we are glad that you are here for the 2017-2018 school year.   Your child’s education is our first priority and the faculty and staff at CMS are committed to providing the necessary experiences that enable your child to experience both academic and social growth. With your help, we anticipate that this year will bring growth, success, and enjoyment to our entire school community.

This is a reminder that students can still complete the summer reading challenge. Packets with information about the challenge were sent home with your child at the end of last school year. If you need a copy of the packet they are available in our main office. Completed packets can be turned in to your child’s ELA teacher during the first week of school. Students who turn in completed packets during this first week will qualify for our after school celebration.

Enclosed with this letter is a copy of your child’s schedule, our family event flyer, and CMS’s school supply lists.

The first day of school for the 2017-2018 school year is Tuesday, August 15th. Students are expected to be in their classrooms and ready to begin instruction when the second bell rings. Thank you for your cooperation.

First Bell 8:45 AM

Second Bell 8:55 AM

Dismissal Bell 3:40 PM

Monday, August 14th is Stock Your Locker Day for 6th, 7th and 8th grade from 2:00-5:00 PM.  Students should plan to visit CMS with their parent/guardian to find their classrooms, place their supplies in their lockers, and become familiar with the school. This is a time that you will walk around with your child on your own throughout the school. Please plan on spending about 30 minutes to complete the self guided tour. You can come to the building at any time between 2:00 and 5:00 PM.

September 1st  is the first of the Early Release Days scheduled for middle schools during the 2017-2018 school year.  On Early Release Days students are dismissed from school at 1:25 PM.
